Tax Lawyer Columbus Ohio Alert — On September 22, 2021, the IRS has announced in IR-2021-191 that it has awarded new contracts to three private debt collection agencies. These agencies will collect overdue tax debt beginning on September 23, 2021. Contact the Tax Lawyer Columbus Ohio if you need help with an overdue IRS tax debt.

You may be contacted by one of the following three private collection agencies (called PCAs):

  • CBE Group, Inc, PO Box 2217, Waterloo, IA 50704, 800-910-5837;
  • Coast Professional, Inc, PO Box 526, Albion, NY 14411, 888-928-0510; and
  • ConServe, PO Box 307, Fairport, NY 14450, 844-853-4875.

The IRS will notify you before transferring your account to a PCA. The IRS and PCA’s letters will contain information on the tax owed and assure taxpayers that future collection agency calls were legitimate to protect the taxpayer’s privacy and security.

While you may workout a collection alternative with a PCA, only IRS employees can take enforcement actions, such as filing a notice of Federal Tax Lien or issuing a levy. Taxpayers must make tax payments directly to the IRS. Checks should only be made payable to the Treasury.
