Matthew R. Porter is a tax controversy lawyer. He represents individuals and businesses in disputes with the IRS and the Ohio Department of Taxation, and holds an LL.M. in Taxation and an IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent credential.

Prior to starting Porter Law Office, LLC, Mr. Porter was a business tax lawyer at a prestigious national law firm where he gained invaluable experience fighting the IRS. He handled tax audits, appeals, litigation, collection issues, innocent spouse relief, penalty abatement, and international tax compliance. Mr. Porter has represented clients before the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Franklin County Board of Revision and the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals.

While attending Capital University Law School, Mr. Porter was a student volunteer for the IRS VITA Program where he assisted low-income taxpayers with free tax filings. Mr. Porter was an advocate on the Tax Moot Court team, and he received CALI Awards in three advanced tax classes, earning the highest marks in each class.
